2012 US Holidays

2012 US holidays are an integral part of the yearly calendar. USA does not have any national holidays. National holidays are meant by holidays where all employees get a day off from work and there is no business transaction done on that day. The federal government has few national holidays specified for its own employees. As per the US calendar there are 11 federal holidays.   • 16 January, Martin Luther King Day: A federal holiday has been declared to pay tribute to Martin Luther King in United States. The third Monday of January is marked in the US calendar as Martin Luther King Jr’s day for his life and achievement as the civil rights leader.

  • 20 February Presidents’ Day: Presidents’ Day is celebrated on the third Monday of February. George Washington’s birthday is on 22 February and this is marked as a holiday.

  • 08 April, Easter Monday: Jesus Christ’s resurrection is remembered on Easter Monday. Families get together to break the Easter egg.

  • 04 July, Independence Day: In 1776 USA got freedom from the British Rule and democracy was established. So this day is a holiday to enjoy the freedom at USA.

  • 08 October, Columbus Day: To celebrate Christopher Columbus’s arrival this day is marked as a holiday.

  • 31 October, Halloween: This in the whole year is dedicated to the evil, ghosts and fairies. The origin belongs to the Catholic Church. This holiday is observed to keep evils out.

  • 22 November Thanksgiving Day: This festival is celebrated since 1621 as Thanksgiving ceremony in United States. This day is observed to thank everyone who has made a difference in your life.

  • 23 November, Black Friday: Black Friday is followed by Thanksgiving. It is the time for shopping and marks the beginning of Christmas.

  • 25 December Christmas Day: To celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, 25 December is observed as the Christmas Day.
2012 US holidays will be enjoyed as one needs to relax after all days work.
