The Judgment card is framed on a beautiful pale blue background where an archangel is playing a trumpet. This archangel is Gabriel.

He hovers high above some graves from which naked men, women and children are seen to be rising with their arms outstretched - as if in response to the sound of the trumpet. The people are ready to be judged by the Universe and are making their final appeal to the archangel.

In the background are towering mountains or tidal waves (depending on the interpretation of the reader) that signify the insurmountable obstacles - the fact that it is impossible to dodge the Judgment Day.

The ocean represents the confluence of the river that flows through the Major Arcana cards starting right from the Empress into its ultimate destination, the ocean.

The banner of Gabriel is red on white, just like the attire of the Magician. The message here is clear. Beginning and end are intertwined. Every beginning journeys towards an end; while with each end begins the hope of a new beginning.

This card is ruled by the Planet Pluto, which is considered to be the ruler of the underworld.

Upright Position: This card says that it is time to receive rewards for past actions. It is considered to signal a brand new phase of life - it may be in the form of a new opportunity or a fresh breath of life after illness.

Reversed Position: Reversed this card says that there would be guilt or a troubled state of mind due to past actions that would hinder in the forward progression. It may also signify delays and ill health.
