Mesoamerican Calendars

The culture of the pre-Conquest Aztecs and Maya made their presence felt in the typical Mesoamerican calendar which is definitely a well accepted time tracking account with a deep ritual and religious meaning. The Pre-Columbian people of Mesoamerica were the first to have created a calendar which has been named as the Mesoamerican Calendars. In ancient Mesoamerica, assessing time was an intricate dealing, often involving multiple different calendars at once.
However, all of the Mesoamerican cultures typically shared a 260 day ritual calendar which was the first evidence of the Mesoamerican calendar.

The Mesoamericans took the solar year in creating the calendar where the typical 260 days cycle quite ideally blended with a 365 day vague solar year and these two years ideally came together in every 52 years which was being named as the calendar round.
This calendar round was again an important date of the Mesoamerican calendar and elaborate rituals, traditional beliefs laced with typical aura of festivity marked this date as the fresh start.

Jaguar Bird Sinner, Thought, Blade, Rain, Marksman, Left-handed, Wind, Foredawn, Net, Snake and Death were the typical 13 months in the Mesoamerican calendar which also had an immense influence on the cultural, religious and social life of the Mesoamericans.

Uncover the historical aspect of the early Mesoamerican calendar whilst flipping through the pages of 123newyear.com.
