Soviet Revolutionary Calendar

The first evidence of the use of the Soviet Revolutionary calendar has been seen in the year 1929 and was well accepted throughout USSR till the year 1940. As the name suggests Soviet Revolutionary calendar emerged shortly after the October Revolution in the year 1917. That was the year when Soviet Russia witnessed the changes in regard to calendar dates with the alteration of the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar.

Soviet Revolutionary calendar in its archaic form has further been well observed throughout USSR till October 1st 1929 and it is in that particular year a new rationalized version of the Soviet Revolutionary calendar was introduced.

Labour day card

Curiously enough in this version of the Soviet Revolutionary calendar all the months has 30 days and quite efficiently the other five days are added in between as holidays. These five days do not belong to any month or week and are typically regarded as holidays according to the new version of the Soviet Revolutionary Calendar. 30th January- the Lenin Day, Labours Day that is two days after the 30th of April, and Industry Day that is two days after 7th November, and the leap day which is typically after February 30th are those extra five days which has been adjusted as holidays without being included to any month or week.

Another important aspect of the Soviet Revolutionary Calendar is the abolition of the Christian Sunday concept of the rest day as an anti spiritual measure and the five day week was introduced. It is again in the year 1931 the Soviet Revolutionary calendar experienced some more alterations where the 6 day work week was replaced by the 5 day work week and 8nday holiday tradition was restored.Stay connected to 123newyear.com to know more on Soviet Revolutionary calendar.
