Chinese New Year Astrology

Chinese new year, pronounced in Chinese as "xin nian", falls on the beginning of the spring and thus called the "Spring Festival". "xin" means "new" and "nian" means "year". The celebration of the Chinese new year lasts for 15 days including the New Year's eve. Chinese new year astrology is based on the ‘Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch’ system. There are 10 Stems and 12 Branches which are used together to predict astrological forecasts. Actual date of origin of Chinese Astrology is not known, but some calculate its origin between 4000 and 2000 BC, but it’s also confirmed that the astrology in China was all prevalent around the middle ages.

Ancient Chinese new year astrology believes in the myth of a Chinese emperor who invited all his friends of the forest to the new year party but only twelve animals came. Thus, the emperor honored the animals by naming the years after them. These twelve animals were the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.

Chinese new year astrological calendar follows the cycle of moon and divides the years into groups of twelve. The ancient Chinese astronomers called the five major planets by the names of Metal, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth. In addition to the astrological readings and calculations of the heavenly bodies, the Chinese believed in the folktales of ‘Summer Triangle’ while forecasting horoscopes of individuals.

Chinese new year astrological zodiac sign focuses on the cycle of the Chinese calendar with each zodiac star sign representing a significant value and importance. The twelve animals also apply to the lunar months. Chinese new year astrological forecasts is basically based on the calculations of ‘feng shui’ and the five elements. Thus, make your coming days more eventful with the Chinese new year astrology.
