Christmas in India is a grand and colorful affair involving
every section of the society to take an active part
in the entire celebration. India being a big country
the custom and traditions of celebrating the occasion
varies from one part to the other. Christmas
events in India are waited with an eager heart
to feel the aesthetic mood of the season hidden within
the massive celebrations.
The Christian people from the plains follow a tradition
of decorating mango or banana trees during the festivities.
Mango leaves are opted for the purpose of home decoration.
In some parts of the country earthen lamps are used
for adding a festive touch to the decorations. The churches
are decorated with poinsettias and lit with candles
before the midnight masses on the Christmas
Eve. Christmas events in India can be best
experienced in the exotic beaches of Goa. Giant Christmas
trees can be observed at the middle of the lanes and
malls drawing people's attention with their luminous
decorations. Santa can be seen at the streets and malls
greeting people with a warm welcome. Christmas
carol processions can be seen at the roads
and thoroughfares. Christmas musical concerts and nativity
plays are organized for the entertainment of people.
Christmas Parades and special church
services are even attended by the non-Christian members
of the secular society.
