Christmas Favorite Cookie Recipes

Cookies are in general sheer delicious delights but certain cookies leave a deep impression in our hearts, which the others don't. Since it's festive season, cookies reflecting the mood and magnifying the ambiance of the holiday season receive an upper hand. Individual tastes and preferences vary but the cookies that have made to the top on the basis of unanimous appeal are definitely the Thumbprint and the Snowman cookies. Provided below are, two of the Christmas Favorite Cookie Recipes.

Thumbprint Cookies: -

Ingredients: -

  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups finely chopped pecans
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • Jam or preserves

Procedure: -

Cream together the brown sugar, shortening and margarine. Beat in egg yolks and vanilla. Stir in baking soda, flour and salt. Shape the dough into 1-inch sized balls. The next step would be to beat the egg white and dip the balls into it and roll it in finely chopped pecans. The cookies should be placed about an inch apart on the ungreased baking sheet. Press the thumb deeply into the center of each cookie.

Bake it for about 10 minutes till it turns light brown. After you are through with this, remove them from the cookie sheet and let it cool. Fill the thumbprints with jam and desired preserves. This is likely to produce 5 to 6 dozen thumbprint cookies.

Snowman Cookies: -

Ingredients: -

  • Vanilla Wafers
  • White Frosting
  • Raisins, Shoe String Licorice, Chocolate Chips, Pretzel Sticks

Procedure: -

3 vanilla wafers are to be used for each snowman. Lay the wafers in a row with edges touching in such a way that one be the head and the other two, the body. Spread white frosting on the vanilla wafers. Bring alive your snowman cookie by garnishing it with raisins or Chocolate chips for eyes, nose, buttons, mouth or Shoe String Licorice for mouth and Pretzel Sticks for arms.
Serve them with other festive goodies or gift pack them and pass them off as showers
