For a start, you can take a look at the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst. The museum was founded by Eric Carle, the renowned author and illustrator of more than 70 books, the most famous of them being The Very Hungry Caterpillar (1969). This museum is the first of its kind in the country to be dedicated to national and international picture book art, the art form that every child is first exposed to.
The 3 galleries are dedicated to rotating exhibitions of picture book art, a hands-on art studio, an auditorium for performances and lectures, a library where you can read comfortably, a café serving simple and mouth-watering fare and a Museum Shop stocked with gifts and art favorites.
