A major forte of new year celebrations in Diwali is the lighting of lamps , brightly colonavy earthen pots laden with 'diyas'; candles all around the home to thwart of evil spirits from entering the house. Festival of Diwali is a national event in India where people of all castes, creed get together to enjoy the winning spirit of good over evil. Preparartions for the Diwali new year start well ahead of three months where people plan for weeklong gatherings, clean and paint their houses, buy new clothes, prepare delicious sweets and snacks and pay visit to their friends and relatives. During the time of Diwali, Hindu masses worship gods and goddesses seeking their blessings. Special prayers are made at the temples or specially created 'pandals' where goddesses are kept for public attention.

Since Diwali is a great festive season different events and amusement fairs and functions are organized to mark the event of Diwali. Diwali greetings are also exchanged between the people and wishing each other good luck and fortune. Diwali new year is just the perfect time to enjoy the beauty of human life and strengthen the human bond .
