The beginning of 2009 is a time to ring out the old and ring in the new!! This is an exciting time of the year. Everyone is expecting new things to happen during every New Year. Perhaps this year could be the one in which the grandest things happen! There has never been a more exciting time than this.
This time, celebrate New Year in Alabama with 'New Year's Eve Ball' on Dec 31, at Mentone Springs Hotel in Mentone. This is joyful celebration with old friends. People welcome the new beginnings and enjoy an elegant dinner, dancing and live entertainment at this New Year Celebration in the region of Alabama Mountains.
Then there is another December 31st activity for New Year in Alabama-City of Fairhope New Year's Eve Celebration. People join hands on the streets of downtown Fairhope to ring in the New Year. Music, party favors, children's entertainment, fireworks and ball drop at midnight. This celebration starts from 8 p.m. and continues till 12:30 a.m. in the Gulf Coast region.
Like every year, this New Year in Alabama ring in the New Year in style as the HSO presents a tribute to Old Satchmo. Virtuoso jazz trumpeter Byron Stripling joins the HSO, conducted by Bill Grimes. This is always a sell-out at Von Braun Center Concert Hall from 7:30 pm onwards in the Alabama Mountains region.
Alabama's largest holiday celebration features a magnificent 1.75- mile holiday light extravaganza with larger-than-life animated light displays. You can watch Santa soaring over a winter village, nursery rhyme characters dancing and frolicking amongst scenes of the season, and experience the magic of the twinkling icicle forest. 5:30-9 p.m.
