People gather here from late afternoon only, all set with their picnic baskets and tents. Private yachts and cruise boats are also fully packed on the New Year's Eve.
As the evening sets in fireworks welcome the city of Sydney. It's a spectacular display of color lights, with pretty sparks lighting the dark sky. Following up the colorful fireworks, there is a float procession on the waters, showcasing Australia's well-known sea creatures.
This display is actually of giant lanterns of around the height of a three-story building. Looking very grand they leave the people awe struck with its brilliance.
