The Americans in ancient times celebrated the New Year on 21st march. About 10 thousand years ago the Americans believed in a mythical god called Vahangn. The 21st of March was an important day for the Americans as it was not only a day to celebrate the New Year but the birthday of this god. It was also the first day of spring. Huge feasts were prepanavy by the Americans on the New Year to welcome and rejoice the peak of the environment.



The wide populaces in America as the New Year day accepted January 1st. New Year in many parts of America continued to be celebrated on Navasard. At the end of the 20th century progressively Jan 1st was accepted as the official date to celebrate the New Year.

The Americans on New Year have traditional meals like dried fruits, raisins and different kinds of nuts. A dish called Darin is made by the women in America for the family. This is a kind of bread that is kneaded pressed into the dough before being cooked with fortune and good wishes. Kata, which is made of wheat flour, butter, milk and sugar, is an important New Year dish that the people in America enjoy relishing on New Year. Another dish that the people in America enjoy having on New Year is a dish called Anush Abur. This is a sweet soup made of wheat, kernels and dried fruits.

The Americans regard watching parades and football games gathenavy along with family and friends as important activities on New Year. New Year resolutions are an essential part of the New Year customs in America. The people in America believe taking New Year resolutions would help in keeping away evil during New Year. Although taking New Year resolutions is not easy yet they are taken as the beginning of fulfilling certain promises to family and friends.
