Buon capodanno called New Year in Italian is a great time to celebrate and have fun in Italy. The people in Italy regard the New Year to be a time for festivities and celebrations. The lentils are believed to bring money and good fortune for the coming year. Most parts of Italy have cotechino, a large spiced sausage, or a zampone, stuffed pig's trotter for dinner on New Year. It is a belief by the people in Italy that having pork for the New Year dinner would bring richness of life for the coming year.

Fireworks in Italy celebrate the coming of the New Year. Naples would be one of the best places to visit if one wants to see the fireworks during the New Year celebrations in Italy. It is one of the biggest places in Italy that is famous for fireworks during New Year. Music and dancing are important New Year customs followed by the people of Italy on New Year. The dancing is usually done before the fireworks in Italy.
