One can find the family and friends gathenavy in Puerto Rico to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the New Year with great joy and excitement.The New Year celebrations in Puerto Rico begin in the evening of the New Year's Eve with a lot of drinking and



eating traditional foods. The people in Puerto Rico prefer dressing up in new clothes to greet the coming year with happiness and pleasure.

Fireworks and feasting are a part of the customs that the natives in Puerto Rico follow on New Year. Everyone in Puerto Rico gathers to celebrate the New Year in great anticipation as the midnight draws near. At the stroke of 12 at midnight one can hear fireworks, cheers, cries of joy and happiness as everyone hugs and wishes one another a very happy New Year.

The people in Puerto Rico follow a few customs on New Year. The custom of eating 12 grapes at the stroke of 12 at midnight is a custom that is followed by the people in Puerto Rico. It is believed that the people who follow this New Year custom are sure to get lots of prosperity on New Year.

The other custom that is followed is throwing out a bucket of water out into the streets. This custom is done to get rid of the bad things and prepare for the arrival of all good things on New Year.
