This custom is followed on the third day of the New Year that is known as the Wan Payawan. This custom is symbolic that it would ensure good rains in the coming year. Apart from this custom the custom of sprinkling water is followed on New Year. According to this custom the younger ones sprinkle water on the elder people. The wide populaces in Thailand begin the New Year celebrations by chasing people down the streets and pouring buckets of water over them.
The people in Thailand regard the New Year to be a day for good deeds and acts. Chedis that are small pyramids made of sand are built by people along the riverbanks. One can find small colonavy flags on these pyramids. Saba is an important game that the people in Thailand enjoy playing on New Year.
