People of Albania welcome the New Year with merry fracas. The New Year amusement brims over a few hours before midnight of New Years Eve. There are fireworks explosion, gun shootings and other noisy events to cheer in the New Year.

Toasts are drunk, midnight feasts are spread and people gag their way to bars and clubs to dance the night away. Have a glance at some of the interesting New Year Traditions in Albania Persian communities of Albania celebrate Norouz or the coming of spring or the Iranian New Year. Norouz is celebrated on mid March. Norouz rituals follow the doctrines of Zoroastrian religion. Some Norouz New Year traditions of Albania include major spring-cleaning of the household and purchasing new garments and flowers.

During the twelve day celebration of Norouz people visit families, friends and near ones. On the first day of Norouz people gather around the dinner table and organize the remarkable Haft Sin. Haft Sins or the seven S's are the seven foods starting with letter s. They symbolically represent the seven creations and the seven holy immortals.

Samanu or a sweet pudding, Senjed or the dried fruit and sib or the apples are some common Haft Sin items that are to be noticed on the Norouz dinner platters. There are several other New Year traditions in Albania that fall under the Norouz celebration. The rituals include Kuzeh Shekastan or the breaking of the earthen jars; the ritual of Fal-Gush or inferring ones fortune and the ritual of Qashhogh - zany or spoon beating that is believed to drive out the evil spirit of the year.
