The Ace of Cups shows a hand coming out of the clouds holding a Cup or Chalice that overflows with five distinct streams of water.

Each of the streams represents one of the five senses: sight, smell, hearing, taste and touch. The spilling water also represents abundance and the streams also signify the effect of spirituality on the five senses.

The hand comes out from the clouds signifying spiritual energy and represents the influence of the subconscious. Rays radiate from the hand – it means that one should always trust one’s gut feelings and let intuition lead to the right path. It asks people to connect to their innermost feelings. A dove holding a disk is seen to be flying down from above and is suggestive of the descend of spirit to the material world. Below the hand is a sea that has blooming lotuses signifying the awakening of human spirit.

Upright Position: The card is about new beginnings and opportunities. It says that a new opportunity is being offered to you. It also signifies contentment and abundance. The card also represents compassion and love. In a reading this card signifies an engagement, wedding or even a birth in the family.

Reversed Position: Reversed, the card suggests that the subject is being overtly emotional and that is shifting her/his focus from the right track. It suggests to let go. It may also indicate a rough patch in a relationship. It may also warn of a relationship that is based on pretense and falsehood or one-sided affection.
