Minor Arcana – Seven Coins

The Seven cards are generally associated with triumphing over temptations and trying situations. The Seven of Coins (Pentacles) card is represented by a young man who is seen to be resting on a plough and looking at a lush green foliage that has six pentacles.

There is greenery at his feet too wherein lies the seventh pentacle. It is a clear depiction of the fact that the young man is taking a break from the hard work he has been doing and is admiring his handiwork. He has been evidently toiling in his garden and his hard work has resulted in abundance in the blossoms. He seems to be pondering upon the value of the efforts he has put in.

Upright Position: This card is all about enterprise and fulfillment of labor. It also indicates hard work and patience that is a must to reach target. It says that the routine may seem mundane, but staying on that path would lead to prosperity. Sometimes the card indicates that a difficult period is about to get over and flourishing times are just round the corner. Minor Arcana – Wands – Queen of Batons

This card is beautifully represented by a Queen sitting on a throne against an azure blue background. The top of the throne cannot be seen which implies the unending possibilities that life may hold.

The lions represent the element fire and the zodiac Leo. The Queen wears a golden robe that speaks of her intense personality. That the robe is not decorated with any symbolism, but is plain, says that she is a simple person who likes being natural.

The rocks on the side speak of a tough person. The sunflowers are considered to indicate joy, fertility and contentment. The wand in her hand shows that it is beginning to blossom - which is another indication of fertility and sustenance. The black cat on her feet speaks of the side of her nature that is unknown to all.

Minor Arcana – Wands – Queen of Swords

The Queen of Swords card portrays a stately woman sitting high on her beautifully carved throne. The Queen has a stern look on her face which warns that it is not easy to deceit her.

In her right hand she holds a large double edged pointed sword that she points at the sky. Her left hand is extended as is she is offering something to others before her. It also indicates that the Queen does not hesitate to turn her thoughts into action.

She wears a crown with butterfly sculpted on it representing that she is a free thinker and possesses sharp intellect. The Angel’s face on the throne indicates that she is in touch with spirituality. There are clouds in the background – representing the sorrows and adversities the Queen has faced.

The blue sky above however brings the positive message that the Queen has managed to rise above the difficult situations to achieve peace, calm and clarity of mind. That her mind soars high above is also represented by the bird flying high up in the sky. This card is all about matriarchal authority, attraction and nurturing.

Minor Arcana – Queen of Cups

The Queen of Cups card portrays a beautiful woman who sits on a throne at the edge of sea. The background is of azure sky and placid water of the sea.

She wears a robe of shimmering silver and a crown of glittering gold. She seems to be in a pensive mood. In fact, this card personifies a plethora of emotions. In her hands he holds a beautiful cup that is shaped like an angel. The Queen is looking at the cup which she holds with both hands and is lost in her thoughts.

The cup is a closed one - indicating that whatever the Queen in thinking is arising from the subconscious and that she does not readily disclose the thoughts. It also signifies the depth of her introspective soul.

Minor Arcana – Wands – Queen of Coins

The Queen of Coins portrays a picture of a woman who sits alone upon a throne. Her throne is decorated with carvings of trees and fruits, angels etc.

These symbols are representative of material success and also of sensual pleasure. There is tree above her and also on the ground beneath her feet. The tree and plants are all flowering – indicating fertility and affluence.

The material affluence is further accentuated by the fact that she holds a golden coin (pentacle) in her hand. At the lower right corner of a card a rabbit is seen leaping out behind the bushes. The rabbit is a symbol of reproduction and fertility. The rabbit is also believed to be springing into our awareness bringing in good time and a sense of good judgment – a lesson to think property before leaping into action. This card, as such, is all about nurturing, feminine authority, parenthood and attraction.

Minor Arcana – Nine Batons

The Nine of Wands card portrays an exhausted and injured man standing with a wand in his hand. His posture is of that of final defense - as if he is ready to strike at the slightest provocation.

Also the body language suggests that the man stands firm for what he believes in. There are eight more wands behind him that appear like a wall around him. The man has fought his battle and he has won. The process has drained all his energy.

However, he is ready to face a combat again if required. He is determined to reach his final destination by overcoming every challenge that may come in his way and see the light of victory.

The Nine of Swords card is all about self awareness and connecting with the subconscious. The card portrays a woman sitting up on her bed.

It seems that she has had a terrible nightmare that made her sit up with a jolt. She covers her with both her hands. She appears to be visibly upset and distressed. She seems of be frightened and anxious about what she saw in her dream.

The bed she sits on has beautiful carvings on it that depict the scene of a duel where one person is being defeated by another. The quilt that the woman uses is adorned with motifs of roses and astrological symbols. The background is absolutely black and there are nine swords hanging from the wall behind the woman.

Upright Position: This card is about fear and anxious anticipation. Overall the card depicts a spirit of negativity. However, all the negative feelings are mostly psychological ones. It may imply that the subject is depressed and is isolating her/himself from peers. It indicates that the person is neck deep in worries and is too overwhelmed to find a solution to the problems. The Nine of Cups portrays a beautiful golden background and shows a middle aged man sitting smug on a wooden bench. The man is portly and has an air of satisfaction about him, which is further stressed upon by the fact that his arms are crossed in contentment.

His silver robe is symbolic of his spiritual attainment. Above him is an arch which holds nine golden cups that are neatly arranged. The cups are empty. This shows that the man has enjoyed the contents of the cups, and they are now displayed as his trophy.
